      Company E
      Corporal Lindsey Tickle volunteered at Flat Shoal on March 27, 1862 and was mustered in at Camp Mangum on April 30, 1862. He first served with the 2nd Battalion Company B of the North Carolina Troops. He was transferred to the 53rd on April 7, 1862 and fought with this unit at the Battle of Gettysburg. He and his brother James were captured during the battle of Fisher's Hill near Winchester, VA on October 1, 1864. He was confined at Point Lookout, Maryland on October 1864 and exchanged on March 17, 1865.
